We're looking for a Patch Manager to join our team and spread the magic of growing.

Full-time / Part-time · Sheffield

About the job

Our allotment sites have community at the heart of them and thrive on good vibes created by the Patch Manager and the wider Roots team. We are looking for someone with green fingers to represent the Roots brand at our new growing community launching for Sheffield. From welcoming customers to watering patches, or teaching local school kids how to grow, you’ll be the heart and soul of our growing communities. There will be some computer based work needed but you’ll be outside enjoying the sunshine most of the time.

About you

  • Nature lover

  • Enthusiasm and experience about growing your own (2+ seasons)

  • Driving license + car

  • Computer skills

  • Charismatic people person

  • Confident in public speaking/holding workshops

  • Bright, energetic and optimistic

Day to Day

Building community by identifying key members of the Roots community who can contribute and add to on-site ethos and activities i.e growing experts, yoga teachers, ecologists, poets, artists, musicians. As well as...

  • Welcoming new members to the community
  • Site maintenance (mowing + pruning + watering decorative features)
  • Maintaining flagship patches (Roots + donated schools)
  • Completing services for growers (edging, watering, weeding)
  • Galvanising the community via our digital groups
  • Meeting prospective customers
  • Answering on-site queries from the community
  • Event and content support
  • Cleaning toilets


Salary and Working Days

Part time (3 days a week) 15k 

Full time (5 days a week) 25k

Saturdays are a must!
