About the job

Our allotment sites have community at the heart of them and thrive on good vibes created by patch manager and the wider Roots team. We are looking for someone with green fingers to represent the Roots brand across our Bristol site (Abbots Leigh Woods). From welcoming customers to watering patches or teaching local school kids how to grow, you’ll be the heart and soul of our growing communities. There will be some computer-based work needed but you’ll be outside enjoying the sunshine most of the time.

  • Enthusiastic about growing your own (1-2 seasons)

Day to Day 

Building community by identifying key members of the Roots community who can contribute and add to on-site ethos and activity, i.e yoga teachers, ecologists, poets, artists, musicians.

  • Welcoming new members to the community
  • Site maintenance (mowing + pruning + watering decorative features)
  • Maintaining flagship patches (Roots + donated schools)
  • Meeting prospective customers
  • Answering on-site queries from the community
  • Event and content support
  • Cleaning, litter picking and tidying


Working hours

  • Flexible hours 40 per week
  • Alternating weekend work + present at company events

Wage/payment

  • £22,000-£26,000 p/a (experience dependant)
